Inclusive, Specialist & Enthusiastic Yoga in Cheadle Hulme & Online

Yoga for real people, men, beginners, busy brains & stiff limbs

Looking for yoga that works for your body and your life?

Looking for safe guidance, expert instruction and an inclusive community?

Resistant to yoga but keep being told it will help? (I’ve been there, promise)

You’ve landed in the right place

I lead inclusive, established and creative yoga classes in Cheadle Hulme and online. Designed for real people, real life and real bodies, I welcome people who are brand new to yoga, returning to yoga, coming back from injury, managing stress, or an athlete seeking to improve performance and recovery.

I have been teaching for over 13 years, worked with hundreds of characters and bodies, and I know anatomy and movement. With a background in functional movement, you’re in expert hands ~ with zero pressure or pretence ~ just expert-guidance and encouragement.

I specialise in private yoga and targeted classes for men, beginners and sporty bodies that feel stiff, sore or worn out.

Kate Oates Elevate, mountain joy

HELLO, I'm Kate!

Hello, I’m Kate. I’m a Senior Registered Yoga Teacher with 5,000+ hours of teaching experience, 50+ weekly clients and a background in functional, accessible yoga that actually works for real people.

I wasn’t always a yoga convert. I preferred high-impact workouts, at least, until my body had other plans. What started as a reluctant experiment during illness became a life-changing support-system. Yoga has helped me through injury, stress, burnout, illness, and the daily juggle of being a working mum with an ADHD brain.

I teach inclusive, intelligent yoga to beginners, men, athletes, everyone. From people managing chronic illness to those chasing performance goals, my approach is grounded, safe, anatomically-led and science-informed, with a welcome dose of energy and encouragement.

Yoga benefits everyone. No pretzels. No pressure. Just movement that helps you feel stronger, calmer and more free in your body.

THURSDAY

@ Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church, Cheadle Hulme, Stockport, SK8 7AL

Yoga Class for Men @ 7:30 - 8:30pm

A space curated just for Men, this class is designed to help men move more freely, loosen tightness, and feel stable and more able in their bodies. Whether stuff from years of running, long days at a desk, or just general creakiness, this is a class especially for a demographic that is less represented in yoga.
We are changing that, and this class is now 1 year old!

Anatomically-led, this class combines function with flow, it supports and enhances common movement profiles (runners, cyclists), accommodates injuries, areas of tightness, focuses on joint support, muscle rehabilitation, and lengthening tight bodies that will soon NOT feel over the hill.

Old injuries prohibiting you living your best life? This is your class.

Flow & Fundamentals @ 9:30 - 10:30am

Vinyasa Flow Yoga with breathwork and relaxation. This class focuses on yoga fundamentals and introduces the brilliant basics in a knowledgable and relatable way.

For all levels and abilities, especially brand new beginners.

Your practice. Your pace. Real change.

Yoga for Sport and Athletes

Yoga isn’t just for injuries. It’s a performance tool – one I believe in, personally and professionally. As an ex-marathon runner, Hell Runner, pole dancer, swimmer and casual 5km jogger, I’ve experienced the benefits firsthand. Now I help others use yoga to support strength, mobility and nervous system recovery alongside sport.

This is functional yoga for people who move. We focus on:

  • Enhancing flexibility and joint stability

  • Supporting overused muscles and underused ones

  • Regulating the nervous system through breath and recovery techniques

  • Improving rest, repair and overall performance

Sessions are adapted to your training load, injury history and your goals.

How to book: Contact me first, then use the online calendar to reserve your session.

Private Yoga Tuition

Private yoga is designed entirely around you. Whether you’re managing an injury, a busy schedule, or simply prefer learning in a quieter space, these sessions are tailored to your needs, goals and pace. Each sequence is created specifically for your body and your lifestyle.

I teach 1:1, 1:2 and small group private yoga, supporting beginners who want to build confidence, advanced practitioners looking to deepen their practice, people in pregnancy (14–42 weeks), and those living with chronic conditions or recovering from injury.

Sessions are rooted in anatomical understanding, delivered with care, and built to help you move safely and confidently. Medical consultation is included where appropriate.

Available online or in person in Cheadle Hulme.

How to book: Contact me to get started, then use the online calendar to secure your session.

Why Private and Specialist Yoga?

Some of the most powerful results I’ve seen have come from private sessions. When the space is yours, the pace is yours, and the practice is built specifically around your needs – real transformation happens.

Whether it’s rebuilding after injury, regaining confidence, managing stress or working toward a performance goal, private and specialist yoga gives you the time, attention and tools to move forward.

Corporate Yoga at Loreal Warehouse, Manchester

“Having been tempted to try Yoga for a long time, but unsure of the access for an old, un-stretchy man, it was so refreshing and welcoming to have an all-male beginners class where we could all discover the benefits of yoga on our weary bodies!

Moving into my second term of Kate’s classes, I fully feel the benefits across the board; I feel stronger, more flexible, more in control of my body in other exercise etc.

Kate is the perfect guide through this. We’re lucky to have her on the doorstep, and if I could give more than 5 stars I would!”

Why Practice Yoga?

Yoga has immediate and long-lasting effects, both obvious and subtle, and on both physical and mental health.

It is a fantastic way of future-proofing your body to cope better with the challenges of ageing, to bring balance to constantly over-stimulated nervous systems, and to prime your joints and muscles to enhance a sport.

I couldn’t live my active life without my yoga practise, and I was NOT sold on yoga when I first started as a marathon runner turned ME/CFS sufferer, but now I won’t shut up about it’s genuinely incredible benefits! Benefits such as…….

Flexibility with Improved Strength & Stablity

Functional Diaphragmatic Breathing

Settles Overstimulation & Stress, promoting Restorative Sleep

Maintain Body Density & Joint-Health
